A beautiful Airbnb apartment in Genoa

I’m baaaaaaack! Apologies to all my readers, subscribers and followers for the totally unplanned hiatus on the blog, but I’m back into it and will try much harder to post regularly from now on. If you have any requests for blog topics then please let me know, I’d love to hear from you and find out what you’re into.

So, today’s blog post is all about this gorgeous Airbnb apartment I stayed in during a recent trip to Genoa. For the record, this is not a sponsored post or in any way endorsed by Airbnb. I didn’t even choose it, my sister organised it, all I did was rock up! However, when we did arrive, I was so full of heart eyes 😍😍😍 I just had to share it with you. Posting a couple of snaps on Instagram got a big reaction so I decided to dust off the blog and write about it.

The new Abigail Ahern collection for Debenhams

Abigail Ahern Debenhams Designer Apartment at Cheval Three Quays - bedroom

Getting back into my daily routine after the festive season has been something of a challenge and I’m suffering from some serious January blues ☚ī¸ The post-Christmas comedown is just too much! In an attempt to combat this annual mood-slump, I try to have various lovely things to look forward to in the New Year. With this in mind, imagine my delight when a little invitation dropped into my inbox before Christmas from Debenhams PR team inviting me to an Abigail Ahern apartment takeover at the Cheval Residences! So last week I crammed myself onto a commuter train and headed to London to check it out…and I’m so glad I did as it turned out to be pretty damn awesome.

As featured on Houzz – kitchen bins and laundry baskets

Jennifer Chong in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK on HouzzWell first off can I just wish you all a very Happy New Year! It’s a few days late but this is my first post of 2017 so what you gonna do? It’s been a year since I started blogging and it’s been a lot more fun than I expected leading to loads of opportunities, including writing for Houzz. My articles have generated a lot of interest and I’m pleased to say that many of them now appear in their ‘Most Popular‘ section! It’s so lovely to hear when readers enjoy the features and find them useful, so thank you to everyone that reads, likes, follows and shares. You’re all super stars!

At the end of last year I had two articles published on Houzz that I didn’t get round to featuring here on my own blog so this one is a twofer! The first, 10 Smart Storage Tips for Your Kitchen Bins, covers some neat tips and ideas to tackle your kitchen bin storage. The second is 10 Smart and Stylish Ways to Store Your Laundry Baskets, which looks at a variety of different ways and locations to store your laundry baskets.

How to bring Hygge into your home

Skandinavisk Hygge Scented Candles and Diffusers

This week I went along to the first Hygge Cambridge event at Novi, a fabulous espresso and cocktail bar on Regent Street in Cambridge. I was both delighted and terrified at being invited to be their guest speaker (public speaking is totally not my bag) but I decided it would be a good little challenge for myself! My talk was on How to Bring Hygge into your Home and I chatted about the various tips that people could take on to make their home a little more hyggelig. It was a lovely evening with a great crowd and I’m looking forward to more Hygge Cambridge events in 2017. If you live in/near Cambridge and fancy joining future events, follow on Facebook or Twitter to keep up to date!

For those of you that weren’t able to make it, here’s an overview of my talk on How to Bring Hygge into your Home.

Feioi’s falling for…Christmas

Catesby's Gingerbread House Votive Candles - set of 6

Ok so it’s still November, but you know what? I don’t care! All you bah humbug types just stop reading this post, you’re not going to like it. I love Christmas, it’s pretty much the only good thing about winter as far as I’m concerned and after the #ElyChristmasCracker blogger meet up last week, I am well and truly in the festive spirit!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a #FeioiFinds post but how could I not squeeze one in before Christmas as we all gear up to bling up our homes for the most wonderful time of the year? I can’t resist buying a few new Christmas decorations every year and while I’m all for festive fun, I do like a classy Christmas. My family know not to decorate the tree without my supervision (one year when they did, I may have taken it all down and redecorated it…yes I am that person đŸ˜ŗ). So if you want to inject some Christmas cheer into your home without the kitsch, take a look at my favourite festive finds…

Cambridge Contemporary Art bloggers event

Cambridge Contemporary Art

I’m a lucky girl. The lovely team at Cambridge Contemporary Art and Cambridge Contemporary Crafts very kindly invited me to their bloggers event this week, and it was a delightful evening. Now I know I’ve been a bit quiet on the blogging front, but this inspirational evening perusing some fab pieces of art and handmade crafts, coupled with the chance to meet some lovely fellow bloggers, has given me a kick up the bum to get back on the blog. So here I am.

6 tips to get the White Company look in your home

The White Company - lacquer stacking trays

When it comes to interiors, The White Company gives us serious house goals to aspire to. It’s actually incredible how the brand has established such a distinctive style based on the colour white. You can’t really get more standard than white, it’s basically a non-colour. However, show most people a photo from their catalogue or website and anyone familiar with the company will know where it’s from in a shot. Now that’s a strong brand image.

From beautiful bed linen to gorgeous furniture and accessories, their range of products is stylish, timeless, classic and resonates with quality. The question is, how to put it all together to achieve the same look in your own home? Here are six tips and tricks to help you create that White Company style.

Feioi’s…falling for flamingos

Cole & Son Contemporary Restyled Flamingos wallpaper

Hurrah – it’s the end of the month and that means payday! And to top it all off we’ve got a long weekend in the UK – yay! If you fancy treating yourself to a little housey gift then look no further. The #FeioiFinds series is a monthly wishlist of lovely homeware and interiors goodies that I’ve been falling in love with.

This month, I’ve gone a bit bonkers for flamingos. It seems I’m not the only one as flamingo themed homewares are literally ERRRRYWHERE at the moment. Plus it follows on nicely from last week’s post all about adding pink to your home. If you’re feeling like one of your rooms is lacking a certain something that you can’t quite put your finger on, perhaps a majestic pink bird on one leg is exactly what it needs.

Feioi’s falling for…marble

From fire to stone…last month, Feioi Finds was all about fire bowls – if you missed it, catch it here – and now I’m falling for everything marble. There are endless ways you can use marble in interiors, from kitchen worktops and bathroom tiles to furniture and accessories. It’s a trend that’s been around for a while but I have a feeling it’s not going anywhere. Join me in a celebration of everything marbley!

My favourite interiors shops in Cambridge

As you may or may not know, I reside in the beautiful city of Cambridge. One of the best things about Cambridge is the variety of independent shops and local businesses in the area from fashion to food to, most importantly, interiors. Being self-employed, I understand the importance of supporting local independent businesses so I decided to write a post featuring some of my favourite interiors shops and companies in the Cambridge area. There are far too many to list them all but these are my personal favourites.
